Eric MD Bell Funeral Home and Cremation ServicesCharles David Scott, 83, of Lizton, Indiana, passed away March 17th at Hendricks Regional Hospital in Danville, Indiana.
He was born January 7, 1943, in Lebanon, Indiana, to Cecil and Naomi (Covey) Scott, and was a 1961 graduate of Pinnell High School. He served as an MP in the United States Army from 1964-66, stationed at Checkpoint Charlie, in West Berlin, Germany. After returning to the U.S., he met the enduring love of his life, Julia Jean Brady. They were married August 12, 1967, and together they shared almost 60 years of love and devotion.
Charles dedicated more than 35 years of his professional life to Butler University, retiring in January 2005.
Charles was a loving and loyal husband, father, and grandfather…and he was a friend to all. He enjoyed taking on new challenges, was quick to assist with his children’s activities from coaching Little League baseball to raising rabbits for 4-H, and was immensely proud of his yearly garden, joyfully sharing what he grew with others. He took special delight in watching his grandchildren do anything they loved, and treasured time spent gathering with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Naomi, his sister, Rosalie Finney, and his brothers, Earl Scott and Ovid Scott.
He is survived by his wife, Julia Jean (Brady) Scott; his sons, Michael Scott and Matthew Scott; his daughter-in-law, Ann (Perkins) Scott; and his grandchildren, Brady Scott and Macy Scott.
Charles will be remembered for his kindness, loyalty, and deep love for his family and friends
A Celebration of his life will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Eric MD Bell Funeral Home. Friends and family are invited to gather at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. Charles will be inurned at the Lizton K of P Cemetery at a later date.
