Charles L. Shaffer

Charles L. Shaffer, age 80, of Spring Grove, passed away on February 25, 2024 at WellSpan York Hospital. He was the loving husband of Linda L. (Wagner) Shaffer; together they shared over 60 years of marriage.
Charles was born in Hanover on January 17, 1944 and was the son of the late Jacob and Betty (Hoover) Shaffer. He graduated from New Oxford Senior High School Class of 1962 and retired from P.H. Glatfelter, Co. in Spring Grove after 40 years of employment. Charles was a member of the Quarter Century Club at P.H. Glatfelter, Co., a former member of Wellspring Wesleyan Church in Hanover where he served as Youth Director, and a current member of Hanover First Church of God. Charles was also the Fire Police Captain in Jefferson for a decade, and the Captain of Fire Police in North Codorus Township.
In addition to his loving wife Linda, Charles is survived by his children Sheri L. Bankert and husband Darryl, Jeffrey A. Shaffer and wife Kimberly, Kevin E. Shaffer and wife Michelle, and Matthew C. Shaffer and wife Dawn; his five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers Gerald Shaffer, Marvin Shaffer, and Bryan Shaffer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service in celebration of Charles' life will be held on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at 11:00AM at Hanover First Church of God, 600 Fairview Dr., Hanover, PA 17331. Interment will be held privately at Jefferson Cemetery. Viewings will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 from 5:00PM – 7:00PM at Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., of Spring Grove, 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove, PA 17362 and on Thursday from 10:00AM – 11:00AM prior to the service at Hanover First Church of God.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Charles' memory may be made to the North Codorus Township Fire Company, 4012 Salem Rd., Spring Grove, PA 17362.
