Charles Simpson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Pearson Funeral Home on Sep. 21, 2023.
Charles Arthur Simpson, age 70, passed away in the early hours of September 20th from complications related to heart disease. He was blessed to have a loving partner in Micki Worley for the past 24 years.
Charlie was an army brat and spent his youth moving around the country and living in Germany while his father proudly served our country. He always craved permanence in his adult life. For the past ten years, he and Micki created an idyllic home on five acres where he could feed deer and indulge his love of classic cars, especially Corvettes and other Chevys. He has a host of friends in the car community and served as the President of the River Cities Corvette Club for 10 years. He was very proud of the work the club did raising money to support various charities, especially Hosparus Health.
Charlie was a quiet man whose demeanor could mask the depth of emotion and care he felt for those around him. When he was in the mood, he was a great storyteller and would have people laughing out loud with anecdotes from both his professional and personal life.
Charlie was a distinguished civil service employee who served 35 years with the Internal Revenue Service. In addition to his passion for old cars, he also loved rock and roll and playing the guitar. He was even in a band in his teen years where he is rumored to have occasionally acted as singer. Those who knew of his vocal ability question that rumor or perhaps attribute the band's short duration to it! He loved spending time with his friends at local car shows and travelling around the country with Micki and Corvette Club members.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents Sol and Wilma Simpson. He is survived by three sisters Phyllis (Bob) Sherard, Cheyenne WY, Mary Barry, Jeffersonville IN and Lori (Gordon) Dabney, Louisville KY; step-mother Linda Simpson; two step-brothers Vince (Quentin) Havens and Nate (Shannon) Havens, all of Louisville; three nieces Samantha (Joel) Blair, Page Dabney, Abby Havens; six nephews Rob (Shelbie) Sherard, Chris Barry, Xander Havens, Jude Havens, Hunter Cox, Jonas Cox; one great niece and two great nephews.
Remembrance service will be 2pm, Sunday, September 24, 2023 at Pearson's, 149 Breckenridge Lane. Friends and family are invited to share memories. Visitation will be 11:30am until time of service at Pearson's.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hosparus Health

Charles was a special friend and always had a great sense of humor. Charles always came to the car show that we did for twenty-two years that benefited the WHAS Crusade for Children, he always brought an appreciated and generous donation for the Crusade, and I always enjoyed the conversations with him. Charles is going to be missed.
