Charles Smeykal Obituary

Published by Boyd-Horrox-Givnish Funeral Home on Apr. 28, 2021.
Charles J. Smeykal, III "Chuck, Chuckie", of Collegeville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday April 28, 2021. He was 59 years old. Born June 13, 1961 in Bryn Mawr, he was the son of Charles and Margaret (nee Hemcher) Smeykal, II and the beloved husband of Maria (nee Cicippio) Smeykal, with whom he shared 33 years of marriage. Chuck spent many of his teen years supporting St. Titus CYO. He loved to run the various events. One of his proudest accomplishments was when he was the assistant Boys Baseball Coach of St. Titus CYO and they won the Region 21 and Philadelphia Archdiocesan CYO Championships in 1985. Chuck was a Civil War enthusiast, cherishing trips to Gettysburg with his family and collecting various artifacts from that period. His love of history didn't end there. He was also very knowledgeable about World War II and anything that flew. He could be found every year in Gettysburg and in attendance at the Willow Grove Air show. Chuck liked being outside working on his lawn or various projects around the house. He was a true DIYer and loved trying anything himself first. He will be remembered for making people laugh and putting them in their place like no other person. He had a huge heart and would do anything for his family and friends. In addition to his parents, and wife Maria, Chuck is survived by his two children; Catherine Smeykal and Steven Smeykal, two sisters; Patricia Ebner John) and Megan Smeykal, and his brother John Smeykal (Kathy), as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Thomas Smeykal. Relatives and friends are invited to share in Chuck's Life Celebration on Wednesday May 5, from 6 to 8 PM at Boyd-Horrox-Givnish of East Norriton, 200 West Germantown Pike, 610-277-7000 and again on Thursday May 6, from 10 to 10:50 AM at St. Titus Church 3006 Keenwood Rd. East Norriton. His Funeral Mass will begin at 11 AM at the church. Entombment will be at St. Patrick's Mausoleum.
