Charles Smith Obituary

Charles Henry Smith

Charlie passed away peacefully on January 12, 2026, at the Stansell House in Ocean Pines, MD.

Charlie was predeceased by his parents Raymond and Esther; brothers Walter and Frank, and sister Lorraine and son, Michael.

He is survived by Dawn, his wife of almost 44 years, along with daughter, Connie and grandson, Mickey in addition to many nieces, nephews and a cousin, Charlie.

In Charlie's younger days he worked in many different professions from caddy (which never helped his golf game) to postal worker to selling cars.

He found his passion working for years in the restaurant and bar business. He ran the Topside restaurant in Ocean View, DE until his employer tapped him to manage the Paddock Nightclub in Ocean City, MD. It was there that he met many people who became friends forever. That job allowed him to have stories to tell his entire life as well.

It was his good fortune in life to become the managing partner of Fager's Island where he worked along side people who became his second family and to this day remain so.

Upon his retirement, he found a renewed passion, which was golf. He was never a great player but he had a lot of fun. Till the very end he still talked of getting out on the course again.

A celebration of a life well lived will be held at Fager's Island on April 12, 2026.

If you would like to honor Charlie, please consider donations to Coastal Hospice at Stansell House or the Lake at Deers Head.
