David Wallace Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Burbage Funeral Home - Berlin on Jan. 31, 2026.
David F. Wallace, age 83, passed away at home on January 23rd, 2026 in Ocean Pines, Maryland. Dave was born in Baltimore, Maryland on February, 11th, 1942 to Melvin F. and Regina D. Wallace.

After graduating from Catonsville high school in 1960, Dave was awarded an Associates degree from the Community College of Baltimore and further obtained a Bachelors of Art degree from Morgan State University.

Dave enlisted in the army in 1967 and obtained a certification from the U.S. Army Intelligence School becoming a Special Agent.

When Dave's service in the army concluded, he earned a Masters of Liberal Arts Degree from Johns Hopkins University in 1970. Dave then returned to Morgan State University as a counselor and administrative assistant for the Graduate School. He would go on to receive certification in advanced studies from Johns Hopkins, as well completing various courses at the Institute of Financial Education.

Dave's 30 plus year career in banking was founded on the principle that a savings and loan's first obligation should be to serve the community and its customers. Under Dave's thoughtful leadership as president and board member, Madison Square grew from a small community building and loan association to a federally charted institution with several branches.

Dave was lifelong advocate for education, and loved learning. He was an avid reader and a history buff. He toured civil war battlefields and collected artifacts. He also put his detective skills to great use as he and Pat took their combined interest in genealogy and hunted through records and graveyards to create a cohesive family tree for future generations to enjoy. He was active in the Highland Society of Harford County for many years, celebrating his own Scottish heritage, and serving as Laird. Dave enjoyed any project in which he could put his many skills to good use. After retirement, Dave relocated to Ocean Pines with his wife Pat, and his beloved Pekingese, Harper.

Dave is survived by his wife Patricia A. Wallace, (nee Rhoten), his daughter Amanda of New Orleans, LA, his daughter Meredith and granddaughter Pandora of Berlin, his brother Fred Wallace and wife Sandy, nephews David J., Adam, Ethan, and Conner Wallace of Berlin, cousins John O'dell of Berlin and Diane Cook of Delaware, sister-in-law Cynthia Vaeth and partner Perry Klein of Baltimore, and several great nieces and nephews.

A memorial gathering will be held at Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin, Md, on February 7, 2026 between 2-4.

A funeral service will be held at St. Alban's in Joppa, Md, at a later date. Letters of condolence can be sent to the family via www.burbagefuneralhome.com. Arrangements are in the care of The Burbage Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, those who desire may send donations to either the Humane Society of Worcester County or St. Alban's Anglican Church.
