Charles Stackpole Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Greene Funeral Home - Northwest Chapel on May 22, 2025.
Charles W. Stackpole of York, South Carolina passed away peacefully on May 16th, 2025.
Charles was born in Paterson, New Jersey, to Wendell and Frances Stackpole and spent his early years growing up in Little Falls, New Jersey.
Charles entered military service in 1965, joining the United States Army and being honorably discharged in 1967. He was a dedicated employee for Public Service & Enterprise Group (PSE&G) as a lineman for 36 years. Charles spent most of his adult life residing in Butler, NJ and West Milford, NJ with his wife, Diane. After retiring in 2004, Charles moved to York, South Carolina to enjoy a quiet and relaxed life. Charles was a true car enthusiast, especially enjoying antique vehicles and hot rods, visiting car shows, owning classic cars, and collecting memorabilia throughout his life. Charles also spent a great deal of time traveling around the country with his wife in their RV, with Branson, Missouri, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and the State of Maine as some of their favorite vacation spots to visit. If you couldn't find him, you didn't need to look any further than his garage where Charles was likely tinkering away on small projects.
Charles is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 45 years, Diane (nee Proll). He was a dear brother to Joan Miller, Douglas Stackpole (Cynthia), and sister-in-law Janet Shutte. Beloved uncle to nieces and nephews Tracey Gelsinger, Julie Kreft, Kenneth Miller, Steven Miller, Thomas Miller, Audrey Shutte, Daniel Shutte, Susan Shutte, Michael Stackpole, Robert Stackpole Jr., and Beth Welch.
Charles was predeceased by his parents, Wendell and Francis, his brother, Robert Stackpole, and nephew William Miller.
A celebration of Charles' life and spirit will take place at 11 AM on Monday, June 23, 2025 at Greene Funeral Home in Rock Hill, SC, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC, 29732.
