Charles A. Streich, of Old Greenwich, CT passed away peacefully on November 29th at Waveny Lifecare Center in New Canaan, CT. He was 95. He is predeceased by his wife Antje.
Chuck (Charles) was born in Oshkosh, Wisconsin in 1929 to Charles and Carolyn Streich. He was the older brother to Peter, Sally and Susan and stepson of Emil Steiger.
The family moved east, first to Scarsdale, NY and then to Riverside, CT. Chuck attended Rye Country Day, Loomis Chaffee, and the College of William & Mary. After graduation, Chuck enlisted in the Army and served heroically in the Korean War. Upon his return to the US, Chuck embarked on a successful advertising career in NYC and Denver, CO. Chuck met Antje while walking the beach in East Hampton. They fell in love and married in 1985 and settled in Old Greenwich, CT.
Chuck is survived by his younger siblings; Peter Streich of Old Greenwich, CT and his sisters Sally Moore and Susan Harmon of Tucson, AZ.
Chuck's loving extended CT family includes Jim and Cynthia Bell of Old Greenwich, CT, Paul and Catherine Kramer of Stamford, CT as well as their daughters, Courtney and Taylor Bell and Emma and Sarah Kramer. Chuck was greatly loved by Jeff and Lindsay Streich and their children Wylie, Greta and Marina of Portland OR. Chuck will be lovingly remembered by his best childhood friend, Craig Fanning and his wife, Sara.. He is a favorite Uncle and loved by all his 20 Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces and Great Nephews
Chuck had many interests; travel, photography, long walks at Tod's Point, but his favorite was sailing. He spent many days sailing his beloved Circus throughout Long Island Sound and exploring the Atlantic seaboard. He was an excellent sailor who was great at giving sailing advice.
Chuck had an easy-going natural way about him. He was always a well-informed conversationalist and never shy about sharing his opinion.
We would like to thank all the nurses and staff at Waveny Lifecare Network for the wonderful care given to Chuck in the last years of his life. Chuck embraced every aspect of life in the Waveny community. He particularly liked the exercise classes with balloon volleyball his best activity.
There will be no official service but Chuck's remains will be interred alongside Antje's and other family members' in the Memorial Garden at St. Paul's Church in Riverside. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Friends of Greenwich Point or a simple act of kindness in Chuck's name.
