Charles E. Strigle, age 96, passed on October 14, 2024. He was born on May 14, 1928 in Barberton to the late Ralph F. Sr. and Florence (Roby). Charlie graduated Buchtel High School and earned his Bachelors of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Akron. He served our country in the United States Army as a First Lieutenant. After his discharge from the Army, he married Janet Trusler who passed away in 1999. Charles worked at the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, retiring after 36 years. Charles held many different positions including Tire Director of the Luxembourg Technical Center which he started for Goodyear, Technical Director of Kelly Springfield, and Director of Commercial Tire R&D in Akron. In 2001, he married Barbara Reymann and they enjoyed 23 years together traveling and cherishing their grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his first wife, Janet; brothers, Robert and Ralph Jr.; he is survived by his wife, Barbara; stepsons, Greg (Lisa) Reymann, Chris (Christine) Reymann, Ted (Patty) Reymann and Patrick (Maria) Reymann; six grandchildren, Sarah, Luke, Kate, Nate, Paige, and Leah; nieces and nephews, Jerome (Monica) Strigle, Drs. FlorenceAnne (Dixon) McLeod, Dr. Thomas (Cindy) Strigle; 12 great nieces and nephews and 18 great great nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be 9:30am-10:30am Saturday, Oct. 19, at Hummel Funeral Home (3475 Copley Rd. Copley) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am at Guardian Angels Catholic Church (676 S Cleveland Massillon Rd, Copley). Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Haven of Rest or Operation Smile.
