Charles Ray Teachey, 87, passed peacefully June 5, 2025 in Thomasville, Georgia- his home for the last 20+ years.
Charles was born January 23, 1938 in Wilmington, NC where he enjoyed his childhood years on Myrtle Grove Sound, and Wrightsville Beach. He had a love for music, all things outdoors and playing the guitar and piano.
Charles graduated New Hanover High School and then attended East Carolina University while working for the American Red Cross. His job would take him to Georgia where he transferred to Oglethorpe University and would meet his first wife Rebecca "Becky" Floyd.
Charles worked for Brown & Root Shipping Company out of Norfolk, Virginia and later found his way back home to Wilmington, NC where he would raise his family and finally retire from Dillard Paper Company.
Charles was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for deer hunting and fishing. He was happiest if his view was from the seat of a tall tractor, his Jon boat or a deer stand.
He is survived in death by wife Rebecca "Becky" Anne Floyd (Thomasville, Ga.), his daughter Amanda Teachey Irwin (Wilmington, NC) Melissa White Davis (Husband Mark Davis; Wilmington, NC), his loving grandchildren Sydney White, Tyrelle White, Grayson Irwin and Cameron White. Sister Lynn Teachey Burdine (Allison, Catherine & Frederick).
Charles is preceded in death by his parents Grover and Lola Gurganus Teachey, Sister Patricia "Patsy" Teachey Cotton and brother Wilbur Murle Teachey. Late wife Lindsey Wilkes Teachey (mother of his girls).
It is with equal importance and with our most heartfelt wishes that we thank and honor our Georgia family and biggest supporters : Cynthia (Floyd) Miller and the entire Miller family, Howard Floyd and family, the Fiveash, Browning and Pat Morris families equally.
