Funeral Services for Charles Dewitt Thompson, 78, of Butler, will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, beginning at 10:30 AM from the Chapel of Bumpers Funeral Home in Butler, with Rev. Truman Todd officiating. Burial will follow at the Christopher Chapel Cemetery in Jachin, Alabama. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM on Tuesday.

Charles Dewitt Thompson passed away on December 24, 2025, at his home, with his loving Wife by his side. Born on March 17, 1947, in Birmingham to Dewitt Brooks Thompson and Sammi Charline Henderson Thompson. Charles earned his bachelor's degree from Livingston University, now known as The University of West Alabama. He was the first All American in Track n Field at the University. Known as "Coach" by his students, he dedicated his career to the Choctaw County Board of Education where he served on the staff as a teacher for 30 years until his retirement. He was a member of 1st Butler Methodist Church in Butler, Alabama. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Faye Hughes Thompson of Butler, Alabama; son, Charles Allen Thompson and wife Mandy of Amory, Mississippi; sister, Charlotte Isbell of Leeds, Alabama; two grandchildren, McKenzie Thompson and Ally Thompson.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Dewitt Brooks Thompson and Sammi Charline Henderson Thompson, and his first wife, Camelle Thompson.

Pallbearers include Kendrick Office, Kendrick Willis, Reginald Ruffin, Roger Williamson, Jeff Lucas, & Allen Thompson.
