Charles Turk Obituary

CHARLES WATSON TURK
May 5, 1927 ˜ July 1, 2024

Charles was born in 1927, in Vancouver, WA. He was the second of three children born to Richard and Phyllis Turk. He passed away July 1, 2024, in Davenport, WA, due to a heart attack.
Charles spent his childhood in Battle Ground, WA, with his parents and his brother, Robert, and sister, Patricia.
After graduation from high school, Charles joined the Merchant Marines and later the U.S. Army.
He married Elizabeth Scott Caler in 1951 and together they raised five children, four sons and one daughter.
Charles worked for the railroad for more than 30 years. He was an avid rock hound and enjoyed working on his farm in Yacolt. He loved being with family and friends, and they always had company around the dinner table.
Charles and Betty were members of Battle Ground Baptist for many years, and most recently attended Trinity Bible Fellowship in Davenport, where they have resided for the last 23 years. Charles had a strong Christian faith. He showed God’s love and care to all that he met. He will be deeply missed.
Charles is survived by his wife, Betty; his sons, Connie (Georgia), Mike, Gene (Debbie), and Steve (Vicki); and his daughter, Charl (Dick). He had 15 grandchildren and numerous great-and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Deborah; and by his brother and sister.
A memorial service was held in Davenport Wednesday, July 10, at Trinity Bible Fellowship Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity Bible Fellowship, Building Fund, P.O. Box 853, Davenport, WA 99122, or the American Heart Association.

I believe it was in 1951 when I first met the Turk family. It was I believe at the second or third service of the Battleground Baptist church. We (Mom and my two brothers) had just moved to Battleground, and I learned that we lived about a mile from Charlie and Betty.

It was with sadness that I learned of Charlie´s passing. Over the years I have checked in periodically with Betty and Charles, and I knew that someday the news would come, but dreaded the inevitable all the same.

Charlie and Betty were good friends of our family growing up. Great memories from the Schaffers. May Charlie rest in peace and another angel in heaven. My prayers are with Betty and the kids. Barbara Gross (Schaffer)
