Charles Leroy "Chuck" Vantine, 78, went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 18, 2025. He was born on February 18, 1947, in Cheyenne, Wyoming, to Glen and Bernice Vantine.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Bernice Vantine, and his brother, Steve Vantine. A man of faith, steady character, and quick wit, Chuck was devoted to his family and to serving others. He proudly served as President of both his Bass Club and his local AA chapter, where his leadership, encouragement, friendship and mentorship touched countless lives.
Known affectionately as "Chuck" to family and friends, he had a gift for bringing laughter into any room. His humor and lighthearted spirit never faded, and he kept everyone laughing and reminiscing right up to his passing.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife of nearly 54 years, Darlene; daughter Tamara and son-in-law Michael Perry; daughter Terry Vantine; and his cherished grandchildren, Justin, Jake, Jacob, Lauren, and Leah. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren Lilah, Hallie, Saylor, Ezra, Blaine, Emmett, Winnie, and Wylie.
He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend, and mentor.
Chuck loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, and he shared those passions with family, friends and loved ones, creating treasured memories and ways of connecting with God's creations. His family takes comfort in knowing that he is now at peace in the presence of his Savior and that his legacy of laughter and service will continue to live on in all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025, at A New Direction Baptist Church, 13303 Bohemian Hall Rd, Crosby, TX 77532. Visitation will take place from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends are invited to join in celebrating Chuck's life and honoring the many ways he blessed those around him.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Texas Brigades, a wildlife-focused leadership development program educating and empowering adolescents with leadership skills and knowledge in wildlife, fisheries, and land stewardship for high school youth (ages 13-17). TexasBrigades.org
