Charles Thomas Varone

Charles Thomas Varone of New Rochelle, NY, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. Born on May 15, 1935, in the Bronx, New York, Charlie built a life defined by hard work, humility, and deep devotion to his family. It was there that he met the love of his life, his wife Minnie Stern with whom he shared a loving and enduring marriage. He and his wife raised their family in Pelham Manor, New York, where they lived for 40 years before moving to New Rochelle 10 years ago. Home was always wherever his family was, and he took great pride in providing a stable, loving life for those he cherished most. He began his career as a printer for the New York Daily News, where he worked for 15 years. At the same time. Charles proudly served his country in the United States Army National Guard for over a decade. He later trained under his father-in-law, learning the trade of wallpaper hanging. Charlie went on to establish his own successful wallpaper and contracting business, earning a reputation for quality workmanship, honesty, and pride in his craft. Even after retiring, Charlie could not sit still. True to his strong work ethic, he returned to the workforce as a part-time code enforcer for the Village of Pelham Manor, where he served for 16 years before finally retiring. Above all else, Charlie was the best husband, father, and grandfather. He was a strong man who never complained, was always happy and thankful for his family and his life. A simple man at heart, he consistently looked at the brighter side of everything and found joy in the love that surrounded him. His quiet strength, steady presence, and positive spirit were a comfort to all who knew him. He is predeceased by his parents (Rose & Charles Varone) and sister Rosemary Girolami (Aldo) and is survived by his beloved wife, Minnie, his children Gregory Charles Varone and Michele McInerney, and son-in-law Patrick and his four cherished grandchildren, Patrick, Michael, Matthew & Megan; and his two nieces, Sue Whately (Gordon) & Rosemary Girolami all of whom he loved deeply. Services will be held on Wednesday, December 17, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Funeral Home in New Rochelle. A Mass will take place on Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Pelham Manor, followed by interment at Kensico Cemetery in Valhalla. Charlie will be remembered for his unwavering strength, grateful heart, and the example he set through a life well lived. His legacy of love, optimism, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him.
