Charles Wayne McSpadden

It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of our father, C. Wayne McSpadden, age 94, who passed away in Johns Creek, Georgia on August 31, 2025. Wayne was the son of Alsie Meador McSpadden and Bert Adley McSpadden. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Louise McSpadden and brother, James McSpadden. He is survived by his son, Christopher (Pamela) McSpadden; daughters, Leslie (Stephen) Schmidt and Denise (David) Bissonnette; granddaughter, Garland Louise Schmidt and grandson, Matthew Grayson Bissonnette.

Wayne was born on August 25, 1931, in Clayton, Missouri. His family shared a four-family flat with his maternal grandparents. His father, Bert operated Mac's Auto Repair business on the ground floor and it was there that Wayne learned how to repair cars. His parents also instilled values in him from an early age-kindness, integrity, and hard work-which became the guiding principles throughout his life. Wayne enlisted in the Army and spent time overseas after WWII. He was assigned to the medical unit in Germany.

Wayne earned his Master's of Business Administration at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. He met Sandy and they married in 1958. Soon after, he was employed at Bemis Bag Company of St. Louis. After moving his family to Ft. Myers, Florida in 1969, he built a career with the Lee County School Board, eventually becoming the Director of Purchasing for the district. Over the years, Wayne earned the respect and admiration of all who worked alongside him due to his ethics and commitment to a job well done. In retirement, Wayne and his wife Sandy built a home in Blairsville, Georgia. He spent many hours on his John Deere tractor mowing their five acres, working on various projects in his garage and studying his Atlas map; planning their next trip while pulling their trailer. His favorite locales were in the western United States. Wayne liked anything with a western theme and also spent many hours rebuilding his VW Bug.

As his children can attest, Wayne was devoted to his family. He spent his spare time to bettering their lives; whether it was repairing the family car, helping with math homework at the kitchen table he built for family dinners, or putting them all through college. Wayne exemplified selflessness in his desire to give them a good foundation.

Though his passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, his spirit lives on in the hearts of all who knew him. The stories and his silly sense of humor, the lessons he taught us made us better people, and his devotion to his family will not be forgotten. We know he's in Heaven now with Mommy and all the family pets they loved.

A memorial service and internment will be held at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia on October 24th, 2025 at 10:00 am.
