Dolores Hall Dyer, age 89, of Blairsville, GA, peacefully entered the presence of Jesus as she passed into eternity on Friday, August 22, 2025. Dolores was born on January 15, 1936 in Hayesville, NC to parents Frank and Ruth (Lowe) Hall. She was the oldest of five children; “Sis” to brothers Lowell, Steve, Rod and Rex Hall. Dolores graduated from Hayesville High School as a member of the Class of 1955. She met her future husband, Harold Dyer at a local square dance, and they were married on May 4, 1957. They enjoyed 63 years of marriage together before Harold’s passing in 2021.
Much of Dolores’ life was centered around her faith in Jesus Christ, and church was often a bigpart of her world. For a period of time in early adulthood, she served as church pianist at Truett Memorial Baptist Church in Hayesville. After moving to Blairsville, she and Harold joined the First Baptist Church of Blairsville, where she served several years as Church Hostess. Dolores enjoyed preparing food and organizing meals for church events like Vacation Bible School, Wednesday Night Meals and Church Socials. She was also very involved in the Union County Band Booster Club, supporting her children as they participated in the Marching Band. She and Harold often chaperoned band trips and assisted in fundraising efforts for the band program.
Dolores enjoyed guiding kids and students in her roles at Union County Elementary School and Union County High School, where she worked as a paraprofessional. She retired from Union County Schools with her final role as Secretary for the Vocational Department.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Harold Dyer; daughter, Becky Dyer Stowe; parents, Frank and Ruth Hall; and brothers, Lowell Hall, Steve Hall, and Rod Hall. She is survived by her children, Denise (Bill) Driskell of Blairsville, Debbie (Randy) Braswell of Blairsville, Anita (Ivan) Walker of Blairsville, and David (Norma) Dyer of Winder, 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Rex Hall of Chattanooga, TN.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 25, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church Blairsville in the Rock Chapel with Pastor Ricky Powell officiating. Internment will follow the funeral at Choestoe Baptist Church Cemetery. Dolores’ family will receive friends on Sunday evening, August 24th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Cochran-McDaniel Funeral Home, Blairsville, GA.
