Long time resident of Blairsville, Georgia, Dennis "Denny" Barto passed away peacefully in early November after an extended illness. Denny grew up in Florida after coming from his birthplace of Canada. He joined the Marines right after high school and served honorably for freedom's cause during the Vietnam War. Denny met his second wife Chris at church after they had both been widowed. He was a faithful employee as a truck driver many years with a Florida fuel company. He and his wife retired to the beautiful mountains of Blairsville where Denny enjoyed traveling with his wife, gardening, splitting wood for wood-stove heat, and caring for his beloved pets.
Denny was preceded in death by his parents and first wife Deb. He is survived by his faithful wife Chris of 10 years; daughter Barbara; son Kenny; daughter Jennifer; stepsons Tom, Dan, and Glen; and brother Dale Barto.
Denny will be laid to rest at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida. Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the St Jude's Children's Hospital in memory of Denny Barto.
