Cochran McDaniel Funeral Home announces the death and funeral services for Mr. Eddy N. Alexander, native and lifelong resident of Blairsville who passed away on Friday, January 23, 2026, in Ocala, Florida.

Eddy Neal Alexander was born September 12, 1953, in Cleveland, Georgia to Hoyt and Ruby Alexander. He was the younger brother to Jim Alexander and Bonnie Alexander. He passed away leaving behind a legacy of hard work, kindness and a genuine love for people.

Eddy was the owner of Alexander's Store where he worked tirelessly for over 40 years. Not only did he build a successful business but also lifelong relationships within the community and beyond. It was at Alexander's where he met his wife, Sandy and together they shared a lifetime of love. Eddy often referred to Sandy as his "beauty". It was a sweet reflection of the love they shared throughout their life together. Eddy & Sandy raised two sons, Paul and Mark, who he loved deeply and was incredibly proud of the men they both have become. Eddy took great pride in being a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

Eddy's grandchildren Sawyer, Mattie Kate and Clara were his greatest joys. Sawyer reflects Eddy's quiet determination and strong work ethic. Mattie Kate displays his positive attitude and kind heart while Clara carries his joyful spirit and playful ways. Most importantly, Eddy was a born again Christian who asked the Lord into his heart at a young age at Old Liberty Baptist Church. Eddy lived out his faith everyday. His life was a testimony of integrity, compassion and a service to others. Eddy had a special way of making everyone feel welcome and valued. He genuinely loved people and his warmth, faith, and generosity will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Eddy is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sandra Gibson Alexander; son, Jonathan Paul Alexander; son and daughter in law, Mark Allen & Kennetha Grizzle Alexander. Cherished grandchildren to "Granddaddy" include Sawyer Reid Alexander, Mattie Kate Alexander, and Clara Layne Alexander; sister & brother in law, Norma Bonita "Bonnie" & Gary York.

Eddy was preceded in death by his parents, Hoyt Jesse & Ruby Dyer Alexander; brother & sister in law, James Franklin & Helen Papadimitriou Alexander.

The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Thursday, January 29, 2026 between the hours of 6 PM until 9 PM.

Funeral Services have been scheduled for Friday, January 30, 2026 at 2 PM at the funeral home chapel with Pastor Mark Alexander officiating. Music will be presented by Julia Youngblood.

The following gentlemen have been requested to serve as pallbearers: Sawyer Alexander, Jessy Alexander, Frank Alexander, Steve Collins, Kenneth West and Gary Canup.

Burial will be in the Old Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery.
