Charles Wheeldon Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bates Funeral Chapel - Oskaloosa on Dec. 29, 2025.
Charles Wheeldon
Ottumwa. Charles "Chuck" Morris Wheeldon was born in Iowa City, IA on January 14th, 1948, to Ralph and Neva Wheeldon, the youngest after his sister, Joyce Waggoner. He graduated from Adel-DeSoto High School with the class of 1967. Charles spent the next 77 years on wheels, creating a legacy he could, and was, proud to call his own.
Known as 'Turbo' to his friends, Chuck was a man of quiet dignity who embodied honesty, integrity, and resilience in everything he did whether he was trucking, riding the open road, or simply being with his family. He taught us all the importance of family, hard work, and compassion not only through his actions but also through many stories with life lessons and a few laughs. A man with an open mind and willing to learn new things, he never wavered on his commitment to provide for and to protect his family.
Chuck loved only one thing more than the freedom of the open road and that was his family, including his son, Chris (Tammy) Wheeldon of Reinbeck, three daughters, Rhonda Wheeldon (Jeff Pattison) of Perry, Danielle Wheeldon of Tucson, Arizona, and Katie Wheeldon of Oskaloosa; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild; and a sister, Joyce Waggoner of Perry.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents.
As was Chuck's wish, his body has been cremated and a private family service will be held at a later date.
When you think of Chuck, think of family, of who you want to be in this world, and think of the open road with nothing but sunny and blue skies ahead.
