Charles "Chuck" Montella Wilcox Jr., age 71, faithful servant of the Lord, loving father, devoted brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2025, at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township, Michigan surrounded by his family and friends. He was born on October 23, 1953, in Wyandotte, Michigan to the late Charles Montella Wilcox Sr. and Martha Elizabeth Baughman (Wilcox). Chuck was a proud resident of Waterford, Michigan for many years of his life. In May 2009 he earned an Associate degree in General Studies at Oakland Community College. In his earlier years, Chuck owned an automobile repair shop, serviced vehicles, and built race cars. Subsequently, he began a 21-year career at General Motors Corporation, working at the Proving Grounds Test Track in Milford, Michigan as a Dynamometer Technician. Chuck was very outgoing, had a passion for helping others (especially leading them toward a relationship with God) and he loved to travel. Over the years he visited many states and countries abroad. He was an excellent cook (creating his own recipes), automobile mechanic, grocery store shopper (always finding the best deals), singer, dancer, gardener, and many other things. Chuck had an energetic and fun personality that always made people laugh and feel important. You would always find him in the kitchen, gardening, at the grocery store (Costco mostly), repairing things (at his house or others), on the golf course, at social events, or helping family and friends. Above all, Chuck was a man of God. His life exemplifies the nature of God's love, character, faith, forgiveness, grace, redemption, and wisdom. He was a devoted member of Mt Zion Church in Clarkston, Michigan for over 28 years and was active in several ministries (e.g., counseling, ushering, greeting, pillars, and his own ministry of just loving on people making them feel welcomed and loved). His love and devotion to God was evident in every aspect of his life, and his presence will be profoundly missed by those who knew him. His impact in this world was eternal to more people than we will ever know (God knows). Chuck's priorities were always finding time for God, and family, and serving people. He was deeply proud of his children and his legacy will live on in their lives, and in the lives of others. Chuck is survived by his son Christopher Wilcox; daughter Colleen and (son-in-law Christopher) Robinson; sister Charleen and (brother-in-law Jim) Stanley; sister Marlene Haines; sister Kathlene Lafever; brother Mark Wilcox, and many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his loving parents Charles Wilcox and Martha Baughman, his sister Deborah Wilcox, and brother-in-law Lonney Lafever. A time of visitation with Chuck's family will be held on Friday, January 31, 2025, at 10:30 AM, at Mt Zion Church, 4900 Maybee Rd, Clarkston, MI, followed by a celebration of life service at 12:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt Zion Church.
