Charles E. Williams, 91, passed away on Monday, January 5, 2026 at his residence. Born on June 2, 1934 in Monroe County, he was a son to Willie Boyd and Elva Whatley Williams. Mr. Williams graduated Wren school and furthered his education at Mississippi State University. For many years he worked for the federal government as NRCS Soil Conservation Technician. On February 18, 1963 he married the former Betty Ann Salley who preceded him in death on October 14, 2024. He was a member of Tranquil United Methodist Church. He was a fan of MSU sports especially baseball, and his hobbies included hunting, fishing, and long-range shooting.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at Tranquil United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Ray Rooney officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
He is survived by nieces and nephews, Bill Nason, Ron Nason, Dennis Salley, Jr., Lawana Salley, Lenora Beaman, and Renee Dykes; several Williams cousins and his caregivers, Sandra Brewer and Joyce Sanders.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Betty Ann Williams.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Grubbs, Steve Holman, Terry Holman, Christopher Holman, Herbert Word and Ronnie Williams.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the service hour at the church.
