Charles “Charlie Pride” Denton Winchester, age 79, passed away early Saturday Morning, November 23, 2024, at Signature Health Care of McCreary County Kentucky. Charles was born in Beech Grove, Kentucky on October 7, 1945, and was the son of the late Clarence and Velva (Dobbs) Winchester. He was a member of the Old Beech Grove Baptist Church. Charles had worked as a logger and hauled coal as an employee for Yamacraw Fuel. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, four wheeling, and making furniture out of cedar wood. He also enjoyed creating hand made lawn ornaments that he referred to as his “lawn pretties”.
Along with his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his brothers: Denver Winchester and Manford Winchester. He was also preceded in death by a sister: Janice Rose.
Survivors include his former spouse, Relda (Trammell) Winchester of Nancy, Kentucky.
Children: Tim Winchester of Englewood, Florida, Velva Phillips (Reid) of Helenwood, Tennessee, Daniel Winchester (Kim) of Pine Knot, Kentucky, Denisa Losey (Jim) of Pine Knot, Kentucky, and Clarence Winchester (Sherri) of Stearns, Kentucky.
Grandchildren: T.J. Winchester, Brandi Winchester, Harley Winchester, Casey Webb (Coty), Kyla Smith (Daniel), CeDe Winchester (Destiny), KaDee Winchester, Lindsey Losey, Ariel Losey (Jordan Stevens), Dustin Losey (Whitney), Hunter Winchester, and Kyler Winchester
Brothers: Larry Winchester (Darlene), Ronnie Winchester, and Roger Winchester (Cindy)
Sisters: Shirley Gibson, Brenda Taylor (Mike), and Barbara Berry (Mike)
Charles also had 18 Great Grandchildren along with other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 2pm Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at the McCreary County Funeral Home with Bro. Tommy Tapley officiating. Burial to follow in the Pine Knot Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 12pm Tuesday at the Funeral Home.
