John Paul Soard, age 51 years, of Whitley City, Kentucky died Saturday, February 28, 2026 at his home.
He was born in Somerset, Kentucky on April 6, 1974 the son of James Vernon and Katheryn (West) Soard. John had been a logger and enjoyed camping, fishing, working and trading on cars, but most especially spending time with his children and grandchild. He had a shy but contagious smile.
His mother, Katheryn Soard; brothers, Bruce Soard, Mark Soard, and Shawn Soard; and sister, Autumn Soard precede him in death.
Survivors include his son, Zack Meadows of Stearns, Kentucky; daughter, Johnna Soard of Whitley City, Kentucky; brothers, Jessie Scott Soard of Whitley City, Kentucky and Michael Soard of Stearns, Kentucky; mother of his children, Lisa Meadows; sisters, Layne Wilson and husband, Rick of Pine Knot, Kentucky, Tammy Helton of Pine Knot, Kentucky, Sherry Rollins and husband, Mike of Pine Knot, Kentucky, Crystal Webb of Whitley City, Kentucky and Penny Soard of Whitley City, Kentucky; grandchild, Aubrey Meadows; a special friend, Myrtie Strunk; and his dog he loved dearly, Trump.
Funeral services will be held 3pm Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at the McCreary County Funeral Home with Bro. Rick Wilson and Bro. DJ Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Silerville Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 1pm Tuesday at the Funeral Home.
