James Edward "Eddie" Soard, a cherished family man, passed away on December 19, 2025, at the age of 81 in Lexington, Kentucky. Born on November 7, 1944, in
Paris, Kentucky, Eddie was a soul of remarkable character who left an indelible mark on the hearts of those he met.
Eddie honorably served his country as a United States Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. After his service, he embarked on a career as a skilled Auto Body technician, channeling his innate ability to fix and build anything into his work. His practical genius and commitment to quality were also evident in the way he helped run the family junkyard business and during his time working at Harrison REA.
Eddie was a man of many interests and talents, whose proverbial hands could tackle any task he set his mind to. His kind and interesting nature made him a beacon of knowledge and assistance in his community. Those who knew Eddie would describe him as unfailingly handy-a testament to his skillful endeavors and his willingness to lend a helping hand whenever needed.
Left to honor Eddie's memory are his three beloved children, James Wesley (Kim Vance) Soard, Rebecca (Gary) Jackson, and Charles Edward (Katie Bach) Soard, who continue to embody the lessons and love their father instilled in them. His legacy flourishes through his 18 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and the countless memories they share. Eddie's sister, Judy Pergram, and his brothers, Dean (Connie) Soard and Patrick Soard, will miss their brother's guiding presence, as will his sister-in-law, Sue Soard, and his extended family of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, Zoney Soard and Mary Annie Jones Soard; his brother, Wayne Soard; his beloved granddaughter, Sophia Soard; his brother-in-law, Carl Pergram; and his sister-in-law, Karen Soard. His departure leaves a void in the fabric of his family but the reminiscences of his life will remain a source of comfort and joy.
Reflecting on Eddie's life, we acknowledge the end of an era-an epoch punctuated by dedication, warmth, and the silent acts of love he performed throughout his earthly journey. As we say goodbye to James Edward "Eddie" Soard, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a spirit that will continue to guide us through the cherished tales of his kindness and the lasting impressions he made on everyone he met. Eddie's legacy is anchored not only in the objects he mended but in the hearts he healed and the lives he enriched. We bid him farewell with hearts full of gratitude, as he rests in peace.
