Charles "Woodchuck" Wood

Charles "Woodchuck" Wood, 75, of St. Joseph, passed away, Saturday, October 18, 2025 at his home.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held Saturday, November 1, 2025 from 1:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. at FOP Lodge #96, 2665 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. A devotion will be led by Rev. Gary Sprunger and Military Rites will be performed by Stevensville American Legion Post #568. Chuck was born November 7, 1949 in Jackson, Michigan to George & Donna Wood. He graduated from Jackson High School, Class of 1968. Chuck enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country during the Vietnam War aboard the USS Mollinnix. After the service, Chuck gained employment with Michigan Bell/AT&T. His career spanned thirty-seven years, retiring in 2008. On December 4, 1998, he married the former Theresa Thornburg in St. Joseph.

Chuck was an active member of Stevensville American Legion, serving on the Military Rites Team, a member of FOP #96-St. Joseph, and a life member of the VFW. In his free time, Chuck enjoyed grilling, hunting, fishing, listening to music, and most of all, the time spent with his family and his friends, too numerous to mention. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Chuck is survived by his wife Theresa; his children-Grant (Jenna) Wood of Coloma, Elizabeth (Rick) Miesse of Dayton, OH, Jason Wood of Sawyer, Kris Sirk & Paul Sirk, both of Hartford, MI, Melissa Sirk of Grand Rapids; thirteen grandchildren-Cruiz, Kylee, Bella, Bethany, Leia, Luke, Mila, Gage, Jinger, Erika, Hanna, Lily & Elle; three sisters-Linda Deming of Jasper, GA, Cindy Klein of North Carolina, Virginia (Michael) Flores of St. Joseph; and numerous nieces & nephews. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents.
