Charles Yahn Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 1, 2025.
Charles M. "Chuck" "Chas" "Charlie" Yahn passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2025 at the age of 77.

Born February 25, 1948 in Delavan, WI and raised in Ft. Wayne, IN, Chuck was the oldest child of the late Henry Yahn and Frances Venema Yahn. Chuck graduated from Wittenberg University in Springfield, OH with a degree in Chemistry, where he was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity and was an All Mid-West lacrosse player. Chuck proudly served his country as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps and it was during that time that he met the love of his life Valerie, on a blind date. After his service, Chuck and Valerie ultimately settled in Haddon Twp, NJ where he built a successful career spanning over 20 years with Campbell Soup Company. In 1988 he earned his MBA from The Wharton School of Business and specialized in logistics and supply chain management. He retired from the Department of the Navy.

Chuck was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Predeceased by his beloved wife of nearly 40 years, Valerie Ellen Curry Yahn. He is survived by his three children: Charles A. "Alex" Yahn (Emily), Nathaniel R. Yahn (Katie) and daughter Gillian E. Holck (Ward). He was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren, who brought him endless joy. He is also survived by his four sisters: Penelope, Frances, Carolyn and Mary, and his brother, Steven Yahn, as well as numerous brother/sister in laws, nieces and nephews.

A man of discipline, intelligence, and quiet strength, Chuck was deeply devoted to his family. He instilled in his children the importance of speaking up, standing firm in their beliefs, and finding courage in the face of adversity. Chuck had a life-long passion for the arts; he found joy in sketching, sculpting, and music. He loved to travel and had been all over the world, in his later years he enjoyed wintering in FL with his siblings. He was an avid reader, a Civil War buff, lover of action movies, Philadelphia sports, his motorcycle and the outdoors. Chuck will be remembered for his work ethic, mental toughness, physical strength, resilience, and dedication; as well as for his silliness, rough housing, teasing, practical jokes and cheating at cards and board games. His legacy lives on through his children and grandchildren and the many lives he touched.

Services to honor Chuck's life will be held at a later date.
