Harry V. Yahn III

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Harry Victor Yahn, III, who departed this life on October 1, 2025, at WVU Medicine - Wheeling Hospital. Born on October 31, 1939, in Wheeling, West Virginia, Harry lived a rich and fulfilling life of nearly 86 years.

Harry served his community as a master electrician, a profession he was immensely proud of, and was a longstanding member of the IBEW Local 141. His strong work ethic and dedication to his craft were admired by many.

Harry was a lifetime member of the NRA and a devout Catholic, being an active member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. He cherished his faith and the community built around it.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry V. Yahn, Jr. and Ruth Ann (Stenger) Yahn, and his beloved grandson, Adam Barbour.

Harry leaves behind his devoted wife of 64 years, Judith (Cunningham) Yahn. Together, they created a loving family that includes his daughters: Cindy Yahn-Lewis, along with her children Brendan Barbour, Chelsea Kovalcik, and Ethan Lewis; as well as Diane (Kevin) Coleman with their children Mary, David, Sarah, Leah, and Anna Coleman, plus several great grandchildren. Harry took immense pride in his children and grandchildren, celebrating their achievements and supporting them throughout their lives.

Known for his sociable nature, Harry was extremely personable, friendly, and outgoing. He had a remarkable ability to strike up conversations with anyone about anything, leaving a lasting impression on all who crossed his path.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation on Thursday, October 9, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m., followed by a Vigil Service at 7 p.m., at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Elm Grove Chapel, 154 Kruger Street, Wheeling, WV. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 10, at 10 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, after which Harry will be entombed at Mount Calvary Cemetery Garden Mausoleum.
