Charles Young Obituary
CHARLES "JUNIOR" BRUCE YOUNG, JR., of Dunbar, West Virginia, and Amanda, Ohio, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, December 27, 2025.
Charlie was born on June 12, 1943, in Beckley, West Virginia. He graduated from Dunbar High School in Dunbar, West Virginia. Known for his steady character, strong work ethic, and devotion to his family, Charlie lived a life marked by faith, commitment, and love.
Charlie enjoyed a distinguished career with AT&T, retiring in 1998 after 32 years of dedicated service. Following his retirement, he and his beloved wife, Thelma, fulfilled a lifelong dream by traveling across North America together in their RV, making memories that would last a lifetime.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Bruce Young, Sr., and Elaine Young; his sisters, Tammy Carnes and Judy Young; and his son-in-law, Charley Engen.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Thelma Young; his daughter, Kelly Engen; his son, Jeff Young (Ulya); his brother, Mark Young (Alanna); and his cherished grandchildren: Chelsea Engen, Caleb Engen (Sara), Christian Engen (Kirsten), Cameron Engen (Debora), Aleyna Young, Connor Engen, Ethan Engen, Addison Engen, Landon Engen, and Carter Engen. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.
Charlie was a faithful attender of Grace Bible Church in Canal Winchester, Ohio, where he found fellowship and spiritual encouragement. His legacy of faith, love for family, and quiet strength will live on in all who knew him.
The family will be having a celebration of life open house at Grace Bible Church, 424 Gender Rd Canal, Winchester, OH on Saturday, January 17, 2026 from 3:30-6:30.
