Charles Zeck Obituary

GENEVA – Charles J. Zeck, Jr., age 86, of Geneva, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 17, 2025 in his home.

Friends may call at the DeVaney-Bennett Funeral Home, 181 N. Main St., Geneva, N.Y. on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

A family prayer service will be at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 20, 2025 in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 p.m. in St. Stephen's Church, 48 Pulteney St., Geneva, N.Y. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to the Center of Concern in Geneva.

Charlie was born in Geneva, N.Y. and was a lifelong resident. He was the son of the late Charles and Jane Damick Zeck Sr. Charlie was retired from the US Post Office in Geneva. He was a member of the Sons and Daughters of Italy Lodge # 2397, Geneva Council #272 Knights of Columbus, and Our Lady of Peace Parish. Charlie did wedding photography and was a substitute teacher in the Geneva City School District.

He is survived by his loving wife, Claudia; his son, Douglas Zeck of Geneva; his daughter, Nola (Michael) Dorrington of Geneva; his brothers, Frank and William Zeck of Geneva; his sister, Mary Ann (Robert) Oddi of Geneva; four grandchildren, Brady, Charles, Matthew and Alex Dorrington; and several nieces and nephews.

Our condolences for the loss of such a gentle soul. I remember the Zeck family while a classmate of Pinky's. Charlie, or "Poochie" was the gentle big brother. He worked at the shoe store that my father managed. As with all of the Zecks, he was warm and friendly. Our condolences for your sad loss.
