Charley Harold Jones II, born September 22, 1970, Son of Charley and Judith Jones, passed away tragically and heroically while saving a young girl from drowning on Elk River on Sunday the 20th of July, a selfless act that so perfectly reflects the man he was.
Charley lived a life rooted in generosity, courage, and quiet strength. There wasn't anything around he couldn't fix, engines, fences, broken tools, or broken spirits. He was a true jack of all trades, the kind of man who showed up when you needed him and stayed until the job was done. Or the milk and ice cream.
An avid outdoorsman, Charley found his peace under open skies, beside quiet waters, and deep in the woods. Whether hunting, hiking, or casting a line, nature was his sanctuary. He spent his last day doing what he loved most: fishing alongside his brother and best friend, Michael, a day filled with laughter, stories, and the kind of stillness that only the wild can offer.
But more than his skills or his love for the outdoors, it was Charley's heart that defined him. He was loved deeply by so many, family, friends, neighbors, and even strangers who were lucky enough to cross his path. His final act of bravery was not an exception, but a continuation of the life he lived: one of service, instinctive kindness, and an unwavering readiness to help others.
Charley had the best sense of humor. He was always ready with a joke or prank. He never missed a chance to make some one laugh. Charley leaves behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and lives touched by his presence. He will be missed beyond measure, but remembered with pride and gratitude by all who knew him. He will be missed by so many to which the least of those his Mother Judith Jones, Brother Michael Jones (Shelly Wilcox), and long-time partner of 12 years Josette Yeik & daughters Skyla Bartleson and Brietta Gray. His nieces and nephews, Great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends add to a long list of those who will mourn. Whether by blood or just in passing he always treated you like family.
Preceding him in death is his father Charley Jones, Sister Trudy Jonas, and his sister Rhonda Evans- Parker (Ron Parker)
