Charlie W Adams II the faithful gentle servant of God, has ended his Earthly duties at age 77. He passed away Thursday July 18, 2024 during his recovery from recent surgery. Born in rural Pittsylvania County (Java, Virginia) to Charlie W and Zadie (Yates) Adams, he grew up as a tobacco tenant farmer, so he was no stranger to hard work, a virtue he held on to for life.

His higher education began with Danville Technical Institute, and upon completion of courses there, he was drafted and served the U.S. Army for 2 years. He developed computer skills, and after 8 years in the textile industry he returned as a student to the classrooms at Danville Community College (DCC), in addition to his full-time work. An MBA at Averett College followed, and he served Dan River Inc as Corporate Financial Systems Manager, before joining the faculty at DCC as a Professor in Information Technology, a role he continued to his death.

In addition, in 1996 Charlie purchased Belmont Estate in Reidsville NC, his home and wedding venue where he would reside for 26 years. He lived as what was once called a Southern Gentleman, one who opened his heart and home to many who chose to wed or gather in his destination home. His home reflected his deep commitment to Historic Preservation, and love of antiques. He loved sharing the legacy of the Richardson Family, Belmont’s first family, especially the stories from Dr. G. Irvin Richardson and ‘Ma’ Dot Richardson.

Charlie was a dedicated member of First Presbyterian Church of Reidsville, and sang joyfully in its choir for decades. His faith was THE most important part of his life, and sharing this life journey with others came close behind. He lived by his saying, “to whom much is given, even greater is required”.

He is survived by his best friend Clint Stringer of Boca Raton FL, his older brother Carl Wayne Adams and wife Doris, his twin brother Terry Adams and wife Liza, his cousin Shirley Daniel and husband John, Lacy Epperson, Jr and wife Bonnie, along with nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends whose lives he touched and worked to make more joyful.
