Charlie Henry Harvey, Jr.

C.H.Harvey, Jr. passed away on March 30th, 2024. Born in Breckenridge, Texas to Billye Jean Harvey and Charlie Harvey, Sr. on August 16th, 1949. C.H. was a husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, godparent, friend, coach, mentor, and business owner. He was baptized and confirmed at the Ingleside Church of Christ.

C.H. Graduated from Ingleside High School in 1967 and was drafted into the U.S. Air Force in 1969. He served 4 years, 9 months, and 26 days during the Vietnam War. After his discharge, C.H. began college on a Rotary Club scholarship that he described as "life-changing". He obtained his Degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology from the University of Houston in 1979. C.H. proudly served the Harris County Sheriff's Department from 1977 to 1980 as a fugitive detective. He then worked for the Harris County Constable's office as a reserve Constable's Detective. After leaving law enforcement, C.H. continued to support fellow first responders and veterans by becoming an Advisory Director for the 100 Club, a member of the American Legion, and supporting other benefits and fundraisers.

C.H. then moved on to the business world. Traveling the U.S. and the world working primarily in the Oil and Gas Industry. He spent most of his traveling days in Indonesia and what he described as his second home, Venezuela. C.H. sold off his international Business Interests in 1999 and went to work for TFE Company in Brenham, Texas. He purchased TFE in 2003 and became sole owner in 2007 along with purchasing B&R Industries in Navasota, Texas. C.H. was a prominent member and supporter of the Brenham community for many years, where he went by the nickname "The Taxpayer's Watchdog".

Supporting youth was one of C.H.'s lifelong callings. He was a founding member and coach of the Cy-Fair Youth Sports Association. Founder and Coach of the Fayette County Sports Association where he coached throughout his son David's high school football career and after. He also founded the Texas Six-Man Independent Bowl series, which allowed independent six-man-football schools and associations the chance to have a postseason that they would not have had otherwise, with the top two teams even playing for the title of independent state champions. Coach Harvey finally hung up his whistle and clipboard after more than 50 years of coaching, but his support never ended. He continued to support youth sports events and organizations up until his passing, such as the Fayetteville Booster Club, as well as sponsoring and serving as chairman of the Independent Bowl Series.

C.H. had a lifelong love of hunting and the Texas Hill Country and fulfilled his dream of owning a ranch at the end of the road. The ranch was his favorite place, and he couldn't wait to get out there and enjoy himself. He enjoyed sitting on the porch while drinking coffee or getting on his bobcat or bulldozer to clear out brush. C.H. also had a lifelong love of cars, one that he and David shared. They enjoyed a variety of different cars over the years, attending car shows, car clubs, and more. He also passed his love for motorsports on to David, and they spent years racing together and supporting other young drivers. In recent years, they watched every Formula One race weekend, whether together in person or apart while talking on the phone.

C.H. had a giving heart and always tried to help those in need. He understood what it was like to not have the help or things needed at times from his upbringing. He was firm, but kind, always bestowing wisdom onto those who he crossed paths with. C.H. regularly attended charitable events such as auctions benefiting youth sports, local schools, cancer fundraisers, first responder benefits, and local church events.

C.H. is preceded in death by his parents, Billye Jean and Charlie Harvey; his son, Charlie Henry "Trey" Harvey III; his brother, Richard Zipp, as well as numerous relatives and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Christine "Chris" Harvey; his son, David Harvey; his sisters, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many members of his "adopted family", along with countless friends around the world.

C.H. will be dearly missed and will live on forever in the hearts of many. His compassionate and giving spirit, along with his vast library of stories and jokes will never be forgotten.

A celebration of life will be held in C.H.'s honor at Champion Fellowship in Brenham, Texas on Thursday, April 25th starting at 5:30 pm.
