Charlotte Atkinson Obituary
Born August 28, 1944, in Lake City, she was a daughter of the late Charles Lashley and the late Sara Lynn Cook Lashley. She was a former longtime member of Eastside Baptist Church and currently a member of Providence Baptist Church. She retired from The Item and Carraway Cleaners. She loved to laugh, watch old sitcoms and westerns, read Amish books, and shop. She loved being around friends and family. Her greatest love was her children, and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include two children, Michael "Wayne" McElveen of Sumter and Elizabeth "Ann" Deal (Tim) of Ohio; grandchildren, Michael Weaver (Rebecca), Kristen Caples (Sidney), Ashleigh Johnson (Bart), Allison McElveen, Brandon Deal, and Morgan Deal; great-grandchildren, Caroline Weaver, Hailey Weaver, Carter Caples, and Ezra Johnson; and stepchildren, Cheryl McLeod, Wayne Atkinson (Debbie), Cindy Evans (Bill Porter), and Rusty McGee.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Lynn McElveen; a sister, Sylvia Herndon; and her granddaughter Allison's fiancé, Carson Butzer.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Monday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Holley and the Rev. Jim Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Wells Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Michael Weaver, Sidney Caples, Timmy Mullen, Bubba Pack, Bart Johnson, and Freddie Huth.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 P.M. Sunday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home of her son.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Providence Baptist Church, 2445 Old Manning Rd., Sumter, SC 29150, Eastside Baptist Church, 701 Boulevard Rd., Sumter, SC 29153, or the Santee Baptist Association, 2500 W. Oakland Ave., Sumter, SC 29154.
Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
