William Scott Jordan, 65, husband of Nancy W. Jordan, passed away Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Prisma Health Toumey Hospital.

Born August 25, 1960, in Sumter, he was a son of the late Janet Player Smith and William Paul Smith. He retired from the U.S. Army after 30 years of service and was an Iraq veteran. He was a member of the American Legion Post 15, a life member of the VFW Post 3034, and a member of the National Guard Association of S.C.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years; four children, William P. "Billy" Jordan (Sherri), Elizabeth "Betsy" Jordan (Jacob Shipman), Roberta "Bobbie" Sinner (Brandon), and Jamie Bryan Vipperman; grandchildren, Meadow, Angel, Keili, Tylor, Cliffton Jay "C.J.", Makynzie "Arlo", Elsie, Reigan, Esper, Pyper, and Karsun; great-grandchildren, Hazel, Jordan, and River; his devoted father, William Paul Smith; and siblings, James F. Jordan (Paula), Douglass Johnson (Eric), and Annette McCaffrey (Sean).

He was predeceased by his mother and biological father William Adrian Jordan.

Funeral services will be held at 12 P.M. Tuesday, March 24, 2026, in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel officiated by Chaplain John Denny. Burial with full military honors will be at 2 P.M. Tuesday at Fort Jackson National Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jacob Shipman, Brandon Sinner, Tylor Vipperman, Cliffton Jay Jordan, and members of the Field Artillery and Military Police of the S.C. National Guard.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 P.M. Monday, March 23, 2026, at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home, 728 Haynsworth St., Sumter, SC 29150.

Memorials may be made to the Sumter County Genealogical Society, 122 N. Washington St., Suite B, Sumter, SC 29150.
