Charlotte G. Bergeron age 94 of Detroit Lakes, MN died October 31, 2023, at the Pelican Valley Health Center in Pelican Rapids, MN.
Charlotte Grace Bergeron was born June 7, 1929, in Wahpeton, ND to Charles and Lucy (Peake) Ackling. She grew up and attended school in Breckenridge, MN, graduating from Breckenridge High School. She then attended Nursing School in Minneapolis, where she earned an RN Degree. She worked in a Minneapolis Hospital. It was there that she met John Bergeron, who at the time was a patient in that Hospital. She and John were married in 1952. They made their home in Richfield, MN. They later lived in Grand Rapids, MN, and in 1963 moved to Detroit Lakes. Charlotte worked at KG Fabrics, Ready Set Sew, and in the fabric dept. at Walmart in Detroit Lakes until the age of 82.
Charlotte enjoyed Quilting and sewing. She was known as an excellent seamstress who over the years sewed many clothes, including numerous wedding and bridesmaid dresses. She also enjoyed entertaining friends at her home. Time spent with her family was very important to her, including Wednesday family suppers and card games.
She is survived by one son, Bruce (Karen) Bergeron, of Waubun, MN; one daughter, Cheryl Kicker, of Vergas, MN; three grandchildren, John Bergeron, Jack Bergeron, and Sara (Tim) Lango; one grandson, Kasen Lango; one brother, Doug (Joan) Ackling, of Perham, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband John; one son, Brian Bergeron; three brothers, Wally Ackling, Curt Ackling, and David Ackling; one sister, Genie Otto; and son in law, Keith Kicker.
Funeral Services will be on Thursday Nov. 9, 2023; 11:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes. Visitation will be on Wednesday Nov. 8, 2023; 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the West-Kjos Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes. Interment will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Detroit Lakes, MN.
