Charlotte Dodwell Obituary
Charlotte Ruth Dodwell, née Pierron, 83, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2025. Born in Port Arthur Texas, Charlotte's early life was filled with the simple joys of small town living, surrounded by a lively and loving extended family. Known for her shy, quiet beauty in her teens, Charlotte was chosen to represent the Elks Lodge in the 1959 CavOilcade parade. She wore a stunning bejeweled, sky blue crinoline gown that matched her sparkling eyes. While attending Thomas Jefferson High School, Charlotte was honored to be a member of the much-beloved Red Hussars drum and bugle corp. She often reminisced about her calf-high, white marching boots and all the wonderful friends she made while in the corp.
After high school, Charlotte became a mother of two children and her small town life changed in a big way. Her first ever airplane ride took her and her family to Tokyo, Japan; a four-year adventure she could never have imagined. And, in her quiet, capable way, she thrived. She became a brown belt in Judo, found her artistic side in ikebana and entertained distinguished guests with style and grace. She had a wonderful eye for Japanese art and curated a collection to envy. Tokyo was just the beginning and her love of travel and adventure never diminished. You could reliably find her happily sunning, splashing and snorkeling in her favorite Caribbean locations.
Once her children were grown, Charlotte began a new chapter and started her career in property management. With very little experience, but with a strong sense of order and efficiency, she became known as a valuable problem solver, turning struggling properties into revenue generators. Though satisfied and successful in her career, once her second grandchild arrived, Charlotte retired and became a devoted, full-time grandmother. She was highly involved in their lives and could be seen cheering on the sideline of every sports event, volunteering at dozens of school activities and delivering special Friday lunches. She enmeshed herself into life in Georgetown and loved being back in a small town where she could spread positivity wherever she went and to whomever she spoke. Charlotte prided herself on doing at least one random act of kindness a day and enjoyed being a shining light to friends and strangers alike. Her family knows her love and energy made the world a better place. She will remain forever in our hearts.
Charlotte is survived by her son Brett and his wife, Traci; daughter, Christy; grandchildren Jacob and Jessica and brother, Gary. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Pierron and Alice Riley and her son-in-law, Jeff Foster. In lieu of flowers, please honor Charlotte by making someone's day brighter today.
A private family celebration of her life will occur at a later date.
