Charlotte Kohlhaas Obituary

Visit the Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home website to view the full obituary.
Shortly after joining the most elite club and celebrating her 100th Birthday, Charlotte Maxine Kohlhaas went to see the Lord. She passed peacefully in her own home on Tuesday November 4, 2025. Charlotte was born in Washington DC to PJ and Nellie Zirkle on August 19, 1925. The family moved to the Shenandoah Valley to the small town of Forestville, Va. She grew up in the country during the Great Depression before moving to Arlington, Va in 1936. She went to Washington & Lee High School. She met and married her late husband Robert "Bob" Kohlhaas in 1956. They had Four (4) children, Kim, Kathy, Greg and Chris.

Charlotte was a member of Way of Faith Church in Fairfax since it was founded in the early 1970's. She was a devote woman of faith who read her bible daily and walked her life with the Lord. She had a small basket with hundreds of note cards with names and select prayers that she would pray every day. Even when you weren't thinking of Charlotte there was always a good chance she was thinking about you. She was an active member of the Women's AGLOW Christian organization for many years, including Area Board President. Charlotte was a renowned gourmet cook that Executive Chefs would envy and an avid gardener with a backyard worthy of Better Home and Gardens awards. She played tennis into her early 90's and only when she could no longer run down lobs and hit her blistering, legendary backhands down the line did she finally step down and retire, She also was an accomplished skier having hit many Mountain ranges including Canada, the Alps and Westen Rockies. She lived on her own for (27) years and had an immense sphere of influence, especially with younger women who looked up to her as a role model. She had a network of friends and family that she cultivated over her 100 years that she impressed and inspired every time you were blessed to be in her presence. She always had a smile and an infectious laugh that would brighten anyone's day. All of heaven is rejoicing.

Charlotte is survived by three (3) of her children, Kim, Greg and Chris and nine (9) Grandchildren, Nathan Borkowski, Rebekah Borkowski Thornton, Samuel and Mitchell Kohlhaas, Zachery, Nicholas and Jeremy Kendall, Claire and Robert Kohlhaas. Also three (3) Great Grandchildren, Logan Thornton, Ethan Borkowski and Peter Kendall.

Services will be held on Wednesday November 12, 2025 at 11:00 am at Way of Faith Assembly of God Church at 8800 Arlington Blvd, Fairfax, Va. 22031. Burial will be for immediate family following the service will be at St Mark's Lutheran Church Cemetery in Forestville, Va.
