Cloudie (Stogie) Stanley was a loving husband, dad, Papaw, and friend. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 54 years, Helen Stanley; his children, Nathan Stanley, Ronnie (Kristie) Stanley, and Becky (Todd) Tennant; his grandchildren, Zachary Stanley, Patience (Nick) Yoder, Gracie Tennant, Toby Tennant, Kyle Richardson, and Alexis Richardson; his great-grandchild, Emberleigh Yoder; his surviving siblings, James (Susan) Stanley and Zinnia Lou Blansett; his brothers-in-law, Elvis Short and Wayne (Penny) Short; numerous nieces and nephews; his trusty puppy dog, ChiChi; and his grand-puppy, Buttercup. He is loved by so many, including his dear friends at Yorkshire FWB Church, Hope FWB Church, and Colony Baptist Church.
Stogie retired as a contractor from his own business that he built with his friend and business partner, Ron Stevens. Always with a pocket full of pens, Stogie loved going on road trips and daily adventures, especially when those adventures included a McDonald's McGriddle and a small black coffee with one cream. In his younger years, he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved the outdoors, specifically the Great Smokey Mountains, and wildlife of all kinds. You would often find him watching out for deer, bears, and his favorite squirrels. When he wasn't outside, you could always find Stogie watching Gunsmoke, rooting for the Dallas Cowboys, playing rummy, or making breakfast.
Above all, Stogie loved the Lord. He was an early riser, and after making a breakfast of eggs and bacon, he would do his morning devotions over a cup of coffee. Stogie was a man of great faith, and he trusted God to carry him and his family through. We have peace knowing that Stogie is with his Savior, Jesus Christ, and is now picking us all out beautiful mansions. "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest," Matthew 11:28.
Until we see you again, we love you.
