Charlotte Montgomery

1930 - 2025

Charlotte Page Montgomery passed from this life on Thursday, October 9th . She was born and was raised in Clear Spring, MD. Her birthdate was October 15, 1930, the 9th child (eighth girl) of Charles and Hattie Shirk. She was a graduate of UMD. She was then a teacher, librarian, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and co-owner of Rights-of- Man Farm in Ijamsville, MD. She married James Ogle Montgomery on July 20th, 1952.

She is survived by three children, Carol (Larry) Myers, Charles (Ruth-Ellen) Montgomery and Ellen (Stuart) Garst, seven grandchildren and ten great- grandchildren. Charlotte was a fantastic cook and always had room for extras at the dinner table. Even after her husband died in 1994, she continued to have all holiday dinners at her house. She and James, "Jimmy", hosted many celebrations at the home farm, including Montgomery, Ogle and Shirk reunions. She was a member of Ijamsville UMC and was active in the farming community. Charlotte, Lottie, Mom, Mom-mom was dearly loved by her family. We ask God to please cherish this special woman.

We want to give a very special "Thank You" to Hospice of Frederick County. Her care givers became part of our family. Mom adored them! Special thanks to Jill, Laura, and Anna.

In lieu of donations we ask you to offer words of encouragement and concern to others by reaching out to your neighbors, your friends, and the strangers you meet along the way. We are

all in this together.

The family will receive friends from 10am to 11am, on Friday, October 17th at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701. A Celebration of life will follow at 11am. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Charlotte Montgomery
