Charlotte Ruddy Obituary

Charlotte "Charlie" Jaqueline Ruddy, age 95, passed away on June 22, 2023, in Belen, New Mexico, USA. She was a very caring person, known for her dedication as a nurse for over 60 years and her love for raising poodles. Charlie was a busy body, always keeping her hands occupied with sewing and various crafting projects. Born and raised in Canada, Charlie met the love of her life and married Christopher Joseph Ruddy in 1948 and were blessed with 4 children: Judith, Gerald, James and Charlotte "Kelly." In 1964, Chris accepted a position at Union Carbide Mines and the family moved to Bishop, California to start their adventures. Charlie worked as a stay at home mom for the first few years in California, in 1969 she went back to the workforce and started working for Northern Inyo Hospital. After the death of her first husband in 1978, Charlie continued to work as a nurse then transitioned into home health care where she met her second husband Clyde Slagle. Charlie and Clyde did not have any children together. They instead, focused on caring for each other's already established families and were active members in their community. They were members of the Lion's Club and attended the Bishop Senior Center regularly. They moved from Bishop to a retirement community in Santa Maria in 1992. Charlie continued to provide care for others in the community up to and after the passing of Clyde in 1995. Charlie officially retired from care giving in 2012 but remained a strong member of her community and continued to work around her house, yard and attend events until her move to New Mexico in 2018, where Charlie lived with her daughter Kelly and her husband Dale and died peacefully, surrounded by her beloved family.
Charlie is survived by her daughter Charlotte "Kelly" Bramlette, her husband Dale, her stepdaughter Marlene Peters, and a large extended family. She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren Christopher, Kathy, Marc, Russell, Christina, Tananda, Danalouise, Shannon, Jamie, Elain, Diane, and Virginia, as well as her great-grandchildren Alex, Chloe, Jaxon, Kyeleigh, Hazel, Julie, Nick, Benjamin, Grace, Morgan, Connor, Kaidance, Xoe, Shy, Atticus, and Harper.
She was preceded in death by her husbands Christopher Joseph Ruddy and Clyde Slagle, her daughter Judith "Judy" Rauch, and her sons Gerald Ruddy and James "Jimmy" Ruddy.
Charlie's Rosary and Mass will be held at the Moose Lodge of Belen: 19482 NM-314, Belen NM 87002, on July 15th, 2023, at 2 p.m.

I adored Charlie. Got to know her very well when she lived in Casa Del Rio Mobile Estates. I missed her when she moved. The area wasn't the same without her smile. We had some great times working out in the swimming pool. Rest In Peace, Charlie.
