Charlotte Smith Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Greenlawn Funeral Home and Life Tribute Center in Ozark on Feb. 13, 2026.
Charlotte Ann Smith, age 90, of Ozark, Missouri, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2026, at her home. She was born on October 22, 1935, in Parker, Pennsylvania, to Raymond and Fern Phillips. She was raised in Pennsylvania and graduated from William Penn High School in Harrisburg in 1954. Charlotte was united in marriage to Leroy Albert Smith on November 13, 1965, and shared 50 years of marriage before Leroy's untimely passing on March 22, 2016. The couple was blessed with six children: Bill, David, Renee, Cindy, Liz, and Steve.

Over the course of her career, Charlotte held many jobs including bookkeeping, accounts payable, and customer service. When not working, she had many interests and pastimes including bowling, shopping, and watching game shows, especially Wheel of Fortune. Nothing, however, brought her more fulfillment than bowling. She enjoyed bowling in tournaments and once went to the National Championships in Washington, D.C. for a "Bowl Your Way to Europe" tournament, in which she finished second place.

Charlotte will be remembered as a kind person who was always welcoming, enjoyed time with her family, and loved animals, especially her dogs. She was often described by others as caring and always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need, often allowing family and friends to stay in her home if they were in need. Charlotte was also a very giving person and enjoyed donating to many charities, especially those that helped children and animals.

Charlotte is survived by her children, Cindy, Steve, and Liz; sisters, Sandy Hunter and Cheryl Bergman; thirteen grandchildren, many great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy; children, David, Bill, and Renee; sister, Carol Jones; and brother, Tom Phillips.

A visitation will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026, from 10:00-11:00 am with a funeral service following immediately at 11:00 am at Greenlawn Funeral Home and Life Tribute Center in Ozark, Missouri. A burial and reception will follow the service at Selmore Cemetery in Ozark, Missouri.
