Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Charlotte A. Sommers, 87, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on December 2nd, 2025.
Born on May 26th, 1938, in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Albert and Frances Keel.
Charlotte lived a beautiful life full of laughter, love, and deep devotion to the people she loved most. She dedicated her life to creating a welcoming home and role as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was known for her infectious smile, hearty laugh, delicious food, and most of all her warm hugs. She was devoted to making those around her feel accepted, loved, and always making sure they left with a full belly.
Charlotte raised five children, instilling in each of them the values of compassion, resilience, and love. Her family continued to grow, blessing her with 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, all of which brought her immense joy. She treasured every visit, every story, every holiday, and every Sunday dinner with the ones she loved!
Charlotte was preceded in death by her loving husband, Edwin Sommers, whom she missed dearly and always held close to her heart. She was also preceded in death by her siblings: Art Keel, Barb Liss, and Duane “Sonny” Keel. She is survived by her five children, Cheryl Longenecker, Julia Sommers, Susan (Ron) Sweet, Carol (Richard) Brant, and Daniel Sommers. Along with her 11 grandchildren: Stacy (Steve), Sarah, Johnny, Rachel, Maria (Ryan), Matt, Justin, Daniel (Carly), Andrew (Desiree), Meagan, and Jacob (Elsa). Also surviving are her 11 great-grandchildren: Lauren, Landon, Liam, Austin, Brynlee, Fiona, Adalynn, Addison, Ryker, Phoebe, Ellie, and Hudson.
Family and friends are welcome to come honor Charlotte’s life this Friday, December 5th, from 4-8 at Walker Funeral Home (5155 W Sylvania Ave.). There will be a funeral Mass on Saturday, December 6th, from 11-12 at Christ the King (4100 Harvest Ln.). Followed by a procession to Ottawa Hills Memorial Park, where the graveside service will take place at 1 pm.
