It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved grandmother, Charlotte Nix Speegle, who left us peacefully on September 7, 2025. Born on February 5, 1951 in Eastland to Imogene and Homer Nix. She married her high school sweetheart, Randy Speegle, at the age of 18 when they graduated together from the Cisco High School in 1969. Soon after, in 1971, they welcomed their daughter, Lori Ann Speegle-Lilley.

Charlotte began her life long career in education at Cisco Junior College in 1973. In addition to her teaching responsibility Charlotte was involved in the development and implementation of many programs such as Welding, Heavy Equipment Operation and training future firefighters (in cooperation with the Abilene Fire Department). Charlotte helped many students find and pursue careers and inspired them to start their own businesses. She was actively involved with the Abilene Industrial Foundation and the Abilene Chamber of Commerce. She was a dedicated and passionate advocate for education and community service. As the assistant director of the YES program, she played a crucial role in shaping the lives of countless students. Her commitment extended beyond the classroom; she helped write and develop numerous grants through the college, ensuring vital resources were allocated for educational advancement. Additionally, her organizational skills shone brightly as she coordinated several community benefit events that brought people together and fostered local engagement. As a valued member of the TACTE board and the Dean of the Workforce Economic Development Department, Charlotte made lasting contributions that enriched both the college and the broader community. She retired from Cisco College in 2017 and began substitute teaching for both Cisco and Eastland School Districts. She leaves a legacy of service and leadership.

She cherished her family deeply and instilled values of love and compassion in all who were fortunate to know her. She dedicated her life to teaching, impacting not only her students in the classroom but also instilling invaluable lessons at home. Her creative mind and crafty skillset allowed her to express her love through various educational endeavors, making each moment with her special and memorable.

She had a passion for traveling and sightseeing, always eager to explore new places and create lasting memories with her loved ones. Her journeys enriched her life and contributed to the stories she shared with family and friends.

Her greatest joy came from loving her husband, daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Charlotte radiated warmth and affection, and her friendships were cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Randy Speegle, her cousin, Lonnie Wickham, her grandchildren Jody Lilley and Ashlee Bozant, her great grandchildren, Mylee, Macee and Lilley and countless friends who will miss her dearly. She was proceeded in death by her daughter, Lori Ann Speegle-Lilley and her parents, Imagene and Homer Nix.

A celebration of her life will be held on September 28, 2025 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at the Cisco College Auditorium, in the Harrell Fine Arts Building. We invite all those whose lives she touched to join us in honoring her memory and sharing stories of her remarkable life.

Flowers and condolences can be sent to Kimbrough-Jacobs Funeral Home and the family requests donations be made to http://spot.fund/ntlm925sc to help fulfill her final wishes.

Charlotte will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
