Charlotte Jean Szynskie of Denver, Colorado, passed away peacefully March 5, 2024, at the age of 98. She was having breakfast, at Brookdale Lowry memory care. After drinking her tea and while awaiting her oatmeal, her soul left this earth. She transitioned from being an earth angel to an angel in heaven.
Jean had a zest for life and an enduring smile, and her positive energy filled a room. As one of God’s angels on earth she spread love and kindness to all she met and knew. She had a deep faith in God from an early age as student at St. Mary’s school in Phoenix, Arizona. She went to the Catholic college Loretto Heights in Denver, CO.
As a mother of nine children, she was devoted to her family, both immediate and extended. She loved keeping track of everyone and kept scrupulous records on family and ancestry.
She was born to Frank and Rose Gray in Phoenix, Arizona. Her parents, her sister, Lorraine Paysnoe, her husband, Gene E. Szynskie, and two sons, Paul D. and Patrick J. Szynskie, preceded Jean in death. Brothers, Edward and Duane Gray, and her sister, Linda Ann Grinder, survive her.
Jean is also survived by her children and in-laws, Mary Kay (Jeffrey Brown), Paul’s widow Suzy Humphrey, John, Steven, Charlotte (Becky Kinzer), Patrick’s widow Pamela VanEss, Donald (Kari), Karen (Lawrence Boggs), Robert (Michelle) Szynskie, 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
The funeral mass will be at Saint James Catholic Church, 1311 Oneida Street, Denver, Colorado, at 10:00 a.m. on March 22. There will be a reception and lunch following the service and a committal ceremony at Fort Logan National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. All are invited! Mom would want to make sure that you know that you are welcome.
Mom loved flowers. A gift of flowers or a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association is appreciated. The family would like to thank the staff at Brookdale Lowry for their very special care of Jean for over 13 years.
