Chase Taylor Clark, 14, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, passed away on Friday, August 12, 2022.
Born on July 1, 2008, in Charleston, SC, he is the son of Kimberly Byars (Phillips) and Casey Clark.
Chase was an easygoing friend-of-everyone with a tireless work ethic. He had a passion for cars, especially older ones from the 80s and 90s. This grew from Hot Wheels to customized RCs to his recent plans for purchasing a “project car” and enrolling in an auto work course at Wando High. In his downtime, Chase could burn entire days with his friends cruising and popping wheelies on his Big Ripper bike, or you might catch him casting by the water’s edge till sundown. A gifted athlete, Chase won a Charleston County Soccer Championship as a member of the Mt. Pleasant All-Stars. His lawn care gigs seemed destined to become a business, and he even kept spreadsheets to track payments. He was known to repair and sell lawn mowers found by the roadside. Soft spoken, but not shy, he was usually right when sharing advice.
Chase glowed with pride when he spoke of his father, and he was a tender, caring son to his mother. He had an unmistakable, earnest kindness and sincerity with all those fortunate enough to have him enter their lives.
Chase was predeceased by his step-grandfather, the Hon. William R. Byars, Jr (“Judge”).
Chase is survived by his father Casey (Helen); his mother Kim (Rees); sister Bella Clark; brothers Jack and George Byars; stepsister Hannah; stepbrothers Roan and Rylan; grandparents Linda and Butch Clark; uncles Forrest and Billy (Lisa) Clark; and his step-grandmother Camille Byars.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 19, 2022, from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at McAlister-Smith Funeral and Cremation, 1520 Rifle Range Road, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464.
The service will be held at 5:00 PM on Friday, August 19, 2022, at the same location. A reception with refreshments will follow the service.

There are no words. However, I do want to send the message that I wish you hadn't hurt so much. To Chase with much sincerity.
