Edward Conlin Obituary

Edward Ed Conlin

BRISTOL

Edward Ed Conlin, Jr., 77, of Stevensville, MD, passed away on Monday, March 09, 2026. He was born in Bristol on May 18, 1948, and lived most of his adult life in the state of Maryland. The son of the late Edward and Jeanne (McKinstry) Conlin, Ed attended St. Joseph's Parochial School and is a 1966 graduate of Bristol Central High School (BCHS). He is survived by his long-time partner and best friend Marjorie Bennett. He is also survived by his younger siblings: brother Shaun Conlin of Mount Pleasant, SC; sister Katherine Follo of Plainville, CT; brother Thomas of Farmington, CT, and several nieces and nephews. Ed was a great athlete growing up. He earned a reputation as a fierce competitor in basketball, with a penchant for a deadly jump shot and reliable scoring. He was routinely called upon to represent the Bristol Boys' Club all-star travel basketball team. In his senior year at BCHS, Ed co-captained both the soccer and basketball teams and earned all-district honors in the latter. After a short stint in a local community college, Ed joined the US Marine Corps and served a tour in Vietnam where he earned a Purple Heart. His basketball talents were again recognized as he played with the US Marine basketball team. Following his military service, Ed attended Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY, where he also excelled on the basketball court. His work as a travelling salesman for a large foreign highway construction firm took him all over the mid-Atlantic and northeastern US until he retired in 2000. Ed was a devoted companion and friend to all who knew him, a great big brother, and the best uncle that we all wished for. Rest in peace, my dear brother... your infectious smile and wonderful sense of humor were the best.

Shaun, Katherine, Thomas, Majorie & entire Conlin Family
Heartfelt condolences to all for the passing of your beloved Eddie. Became close friends with Eddie starting at St. Joseph Grammar School. Have so many great memories with Ed on Federal Hill, the Bristol Boys Club, the West End, & Bristol Central H.S. We continued our friendship for many years playing on soccer & basketball teams together. He was and outstanding athlete and a true team player. What I will remember most about Ed was his sense of humor & storytelling...never lost for words.
May all the loving, happy memories you have of Eddie ease your pain.
RIP my friend.

It's 1969 and i'm walking down the street in Anaheim, California when someone taps me on the shoulder and says"Mike, how 'ya doin?" I turn and there is Eddie absolutely BEAMING at me as I am sure he was as happy as I to see a familiar face so far away from home. We were both at Camp Pendleton on our way to Asia. With a weekend pass and not much else between us we had a great couple days together; even snuck in a day at Disneyland! The next, and probably the last, time I saw him was at the Thanksgiving Day football game a couple years later and we had a great day reminiscing. Semper Fi my brother.

I´m greatly saddened to hear of Ed´s passing. The memories I have of Eddie and me from sports to the west end to whatever goofy stuff we decided to do will always pop into my mind from time to time and give me a chuckle. To all of his family you have my deepest condolences! I don´t think either of us have attended any reunions lately, but the ones we did go to we would always meet the next night at a local establishment to reminisce and laugh hysterically about our youth! I´m proud to say we also share the Marine Corps brotherhood. Semper Fi brother and RIP!

I went through St. Joes and Bristol Central with Eddie. I last saw him at one of our high school reunions. He was the life of the party. I can't believe we both lived on Kent Island and never ran into each other. He was a good guy. My condolences to his family and many friends who will surely miss him.

Sincere condolences to Ed's family and close friends. Ed and I met years ago playing basketball at the boys club. We played together and won several tournaments. I so admired his intensity and spirit, He was a highly skilled player. He was also a very good person and friend to me. Although we never kept in touch, I never forgot him and am thankful we were friends.

My condolences to Margie and Ed´s family. Ed started with our company 6 months before I did in 1993 and we worked together for many years and were good friends. We were on a trip to St Thomas for the top salesmen and he kept us laughing the whole time. He also came to visit with my family in Atlanta back in 1996 for the Olympics.
Ed was one of the funniest people I ever knew, famous for his one liners, his timing was impeccable.
He was so much fun to be with and he will be missed.
