Shirley Schroeder Conlin, 88, of Arthur, IL passed away on March 11, 2026. She was born in Neoga, IL on July 13, 1937, the daughter of Edward and Delores Schroeder.
Shirley was valedictorian of her class at Neoga High School. She continued on to become a dental assistant at the Link Clinic in Mattoon. One of her coworkers introduced her to Jack Conlin. They married in November of 1963 and she joined him in running the family farm. Along the way of running the farm for the next 55 years, they had 3 daughters. Together they enjoyed traveling and taking family trips to Sanibel. She was well known for her Sunday dinners with homemade noodles to share with family and friends. She was a homemaker and caretaker and loved by all. She enjoyed sewing and cooking along with spending quality time with family and friends. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church of Sullivan.
Shirley is survived by her 3 daughters Lori (Arlyn) Poppen, Andi (Duane) Schlabach, and Amy (Greg) Henderson; her grandchildren Alex (Emily) Poppen, Chandler Poppen, Rhett and Drew Schlabach, Ella and Gabe Henderson, and great grandchildren Eleanor and Charlie Poppen. She is also survived by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Phil and Alice Conlin and several beloved nieces and nephews.
Shirley was predeceased by her husband Jack, her parents Edward and Delores Schroeder, her sister and brother-in-law Fran and Bill Handley, nephew Curt Handley, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Dave and Bonnie Conlin.
A celebration of life will be held at Shrader Funeral Home in Arthur on Sunday, March 15 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. with a gravesite service at the Arthur Cemetery on Monday, March 16 at 11:00 a.m.
