Cheri Anne Friend, age 59, of Canton, Georgia passed away peacefully surrounded by family following a long battle with cancer.
Cheri was born in Jacksonville, Florida to Benny and Theresa Thigpen on September 8, 1962. Cheri worked as a senior project manager for FIS Glob for more than 30 years. She was a longtime member of Sugar Hill Church and loved serving in various ministries there. Upon her move to Canton, Cheri joined Revolution Church.
First and foremost, Cheri loved being a CiCi to her five grandchildren. She was happiest when spending time with family vacationing at the beach. She was also known for her party planning and home organization and interior decorating.
She is proceeded in death by her father, Benny Leon Thigpen. She leaves behind her daughters and sons-in-law: Jennifer and Jesse Block, Laurin and Bobby Kendall, and Morgan and Diego Mendezu and grandchildren Parker, Emily, and Bennett Block and Tripp and Luke Kendall. She is also survived by sister Angela Camp and her husband Alan, brother Russell Thigpen and his wife, Dina, and sister Julie Thigpen. She is also survived by her mother, Theresa Thigpen and nieces Stephanie Bean Clarke (Roy), Tim Camp, Kristen Orr (Jack), and Madison Thigpen and great niece and nephew, Ella and Nicholas Clarke.
Cheri faced her cancer battle with strength, grace, and an unwavering faith in Jesus. She found joy even in the hardest days by clinging to God's promises and plan for her life.
Cheri's celebration of life will be held at the Chapel at Sugar Hill Church on Saturday, February 19th at 2:00 PM with a reception to follow.
