Cherry Lynn Payne (Brown) went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 20, 2024, in Glendale, Arizona. She was born in Long Beach, California on July 29, 1957. She lived all but a few months of her life in the Phoenix Area. She was 66 years old. She would have been married to the love of her life, Ron, for 44 years on May 17, 2024.

Cherry was a fun-loving person full of smiles and hugs for everyone. She enjoyed walks holding hands with Ron, watching Christmas movies, reading and spending time with her family and taking care of numerous cats and neighborhood strays. Her favorite songs were “Our House” (by Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young) and “Time” (by Alan Parsons). She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She was a graduate of Dysart High School (El Mirage) in 1975. She worked as an Accounts Payable Clerk for Safeway for 20+ years and retired in 2022.
She was preceded by her father Cecil Brown and stepmother Myrna Brown. She is survived by her husband, Ron Payne, children: Emily Carlson, and Robert Payne (Lynn). Her mother Marilyn “Jo” Wadding, stepfather George Wadding. Siblings: Michael Wadding (Pam), Kevin Wadding (Jeannie), Deanne Brown, Steve Wadding (Maureen), Ted Brown (Wilma) and Christina Lucas and many cousins, nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at 10:30 am at Love Baptist Church, 3030 West Glendale in Phoenix, AZ (Please wear Hawaiian Shirts or bright colors.) In lieu of flowers, she would want to still care for the many homeless cats out there by donations going to Valley no-kill cat rescues. Suggestions: Hermitage Cat Shelter (www.hermitagecatshelter.org), Sun Cities 4 Paws Cat Rescue (www.4pawsrescue.org), or Arizona Animal Welfare League (www.aawl.org).
