Cherryl Mccelvey, age 73, of Goldthwaite, Texas passed away on August 26, 2025 leaving behind a void that can never be filled. As a dear friend to so many, Cherryl will be remembered for her kindness, loyalty, love of God, family, friends, horses, and puppies. Her grandsons also had a special place in her heart.

Born in Howard County, Texas on February 26, 1952 to Clayton and Earlene Parson, she grew up and lived in many areas across the state of Texas. Cherryl had a passion for horseback riding, traveling, and history. She found immense joy in playing with her beloved dog Lucy and spending time with her large circle of friends. She was always dedicated to helping others.

Cherryl was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Mike Parson, husbands Wesley Reagan and Mac Mccelvey, and bonus son Corey Reagan. She is survived by her son Wade Reagan and wife, Candace, grandsons Clay and Karston, bonus daughter-in-law Sonja Reagan, and bonus grandchildren, Courtney Kennedy, Casey, Cody, Carter, and Caty Reagan, and a host of friends.

Cherryl and Mac were instrumental in helping to start the Mounted Unit at Lubbock Police Department. They provided horses for training and events. Cherryl worked the National Cowboy Symposium for a number of years working on the advisory board and trail rides. Cherryl and Mac played a vital part in positively influencing countless kids as volunteers at New Horizons Ranch at Goldthwaite.

Those who were lucky enough to call Cherryl a friend will forever cherish fond memories. From sharing stories of trail rides and time spent working at the National Ranching Heritage Museum in Lubbock, to accompanying friends to doctor appointments, sitting with sick friends, and enjoying weekly dinners with a friends group, Cherryl taught us the true meaning of friendship and showed us what it means to live and love with an open heart. In her final act of kindness, Cherryl gave the gift of body donation through LifeGift.

A celebration of Cherryl's life will be held in Goldthwaite, TX at Center City Baptist Church on Saturday, September 13, 2025 @ 2:00PM.
